Netanyah and Mossad planned to attack Iran on eve of Israeli elections

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his close assistant and Mossad chief Roman Goffman tried to organise an operation against Iran on the eve of Israeli elections on October 27th, according to a report aired by an Israeli network Friday.

The 12th Channel report, which does not quote specific sources and has not been confirmed, states that the operation did not have the support of other senior officials in the Israeli security device.

The latter voiced concerns that such an action could cause a serious escalation of the situation and hinder holding elections on time.

Despite the objections, plans for the operation, whose details were not revealed, continued. After all, however, an error by an Israeli security official resulted in US briefing of the operation, with Washington acting quickly to shut it down, the television network reported.

The prime minister’s office denied the report, saying: The prime minister had clarified at the right time that an attack before Israeli elections was not on the agenda.

Friday’s report adds to a series of similar television reports that were broadcast shortly before elections in Israel.

On Sunday, October 25th, two days before the elections, Channel 12 reported that an unprecedented confrontation was under way between Netanyah and Israel’s Chief of General Staff, Eyal Zamir.

The reason was allegedly an order from the prime minister for uncontested military action, which, according to Defence Ministry officials, could cause new tensions with Iran.

According to the network, which quoted anonymous sources, Zamir was resisting the execution of military action, for which no details were provided, asking for further consultations, as well as written documentation from Netanyahu concerning his legal authorization.

Efforts to harness for political gain

The network cited a military source who declared: This is an action that can lead to escalation with Iran at a particularly sensitive and critical moment, creating the risk of miscalculations. )

The report also cited anonymous sources with knowledge of the issue, which said there were concerns within the military leadership about an effort by political leadership to exploit Iran’s issue for political benefit.

Asked about the October 25th report in an interview that evening on Channel 14, Netanyahu called it éabsurds, claiming he had no conflict with Zamir.

Earlier in the same interview, the Israeli prime minister had stated that he had recently ordered the Israeli army and Mossad to overthrow the Iranian regime ʹ, however, without pointing to whether this declaration was related to the specific military order described in the report.

According to the Channel 12, hostility and tension between Netanyah and Zamir were also evident at a meeting at the Palmachim air base, where the atmosphere in the room was described as extremely tense.

The network cited a high security source, which said: Historia will not forget the role played by Zamir in recent days without further clarification.

The next day, on 26 October, a day before the elections, Channel 12 and Channel 13 reported that Zamir was the only head of Israeli security services to contest the military action, allegedly seeking Netanyah and Defence Minister Yisrael Katz. The Israeli Army, according to reports, feared the operation could provoke a escalation with Iran and undermine the election agenda.

We’re talking to Iran

The television report on the interrupted operation was broadcast as developments were being recorded in Qatar-mediated negotiations to end the war between the US and Iran, although at the same time there was information that US President Donald Trump was considering the possibility of relaunching military attacks.

Earlier this week, Channel 12 reported that, ahead of Tuesday’s mid-term elections in the US, in which the Republicans suffered significant losses across the country, Netanyah called on Trump to resume the fight against Iran immediately after the elections. However, the US president reportedly wants to give more time to diplomatic negotiations with Tehran.

According to the report, Netanyahu fears the talks could lead to a drastic relief of pressure on Iran, while Trump wants Israel to remain out of diplomatic efforts at the moment.

Asked Friday what his message for Iran was, Trump told reporters outside the White House:

We have defeated Iran. We’re doing great with Iran. We’re talking to Iran. We haven’t lost a single soldier in six or seven months. )

Trump also reiterated his claim that Israel and, in fact, the entire Middle East did not. TODAY, if I had not prevented Iran from being equipped with nuclear weapons, it would have been possible.

Nobody will say it, but everyone knows it’s true!
