The Constitutional Prosecutor in Pec has requested the appointment of the detention measure to Jeton Sylajt, under suspicion of committing the criminal act, the contempt of the court.
According to the prosecution’s announcement, Sylaj allegedly failed to respect a ruling by the Constitutional Court in Pec, issued on October 16th 2026, which had been banned from exercising physical and psychic violence, preventing movement, as well as insulting, worrying or threatening his wife, now the late Arlinda Zekiaj.
The case is suspected to have occurred on October 25th, around 17:58, on the street of Moon Dedushaj, in the village of Vitomirica in Pec.
According to the prosecution, the defendant is suspected to have again exerted psychological violence against his wife, addressing his wife with threatening words. He is also suspected of taking the clothes she had put in her laundry and throwing them into the backyard.
With these actions, according to the Prosecutor, he allegedly committed the criminal act of not ignoring the court, by Article 393, paragraph 1, of the Penal Code of the Republic of Kosovo.
The hearing for the application for the detention assignment is expected to be held during today at the Foundation Court in Pec.
Arlinda Zekiaj was killed that same day, October 25th by her brother – in – law, her brother lives in Sylai’s. The murder occurred several hours after the case the prosecution has already sought to appoint Sylajt’s detention.
