Democratic Party of Kosovo MP Besa Kabashi-Ramaj has demanded the resignation of Justice Minister Donika Grovalla-Schwarz, and Interior Affairs Minister Xhelal Svechla, following institutional failures in the case of the murder of Arlinda Zekit.
At a media conference, Kabashi-Ramaj has criticised the two ministers for lack of political responsibility, stressing that accepting institutional failures is not enough without concrete responsibility.
It has called on Prime Minister Albin Kurti to ask for their resignation, while in case of rejection, it is fired.
Our request is clear: resignations of responsible ministers, full investigation of any failure and urgent action to protect life. Because Arlinda paid for the defence failure with his life, the MP said.
Kabashi-Ramaj has stressed that the resignation of Police Director General Gazmend Hoxha does not exclude Minister Svecla from political responsibility for the functioning of this institution.
According to her, the Police Director has its responsibility, but the minister must account for policies, conditions and institutional direction in the field he leads.
As an example of mismanagement, she also mentioned cancelling the graduation ceremony of 300 new policemen because of a lack of uniforms.
The PDK MP has also warned of commitment to clarify institutional responsibilities through the investigative commission in the Arlinda Zekaj case.
Arlinda cannot be returned. But we have an obligation to her, to her family, and to every woman and girl in the Republic of Kosovo, she said.
