Portugal’s Football Federation has confirmed that the 40-year-old attacker is among the players who can return to the team for matches against Denmark and Wales, scheduled for November 14th and 17th.
Selector Jorge Jesus will publish the final list on November 6th.
Ronaldo had suddenly left Portugal’s gathering on September 30th during the opening matches of the qualifications for the League of Nations. Then he accused the coach of failing to keep his promise to give minutes in the field.
The clash between them deepened even more after Ronaldo claimed the coach had not mentioned at a media conference some of the points they agreed on before the match with Denmark.
Last week, the federation announced that it had suspended Ronaldo for thirty days because of leaving the team. However, the measure was also calculated for the past days, so he will be free to return at the end of this week.
The Portuguese star had apologized to fans in early October and had declared that he would accept any punishment. He had also stressed that he had no intention of withdrawing from the national.
Portugal, the ruling champion of the League of Nations, has won all four matches so far and has secured the qualifications in the quarterfinal two matches before the end of the group phase. Three of these victories have been achieved without Ronaldo in the compound.
Ronaldo is the best goalist and football player with the highest representation in national football history in men. He debuted with Portugal in 2003, at the age of eighteen, and has won the Golden Top award five times.
The attacker has declared that 2026 is likely his last year in football, making it even more important to continue his presentations with the Portuguese national.
