Trump warns big deal to end Russia-Ukrainian war

United States President Donald Trump has declared that a big deal is being prepared with Russia to end the war in Ukraine, leaving open the possibility of it involving other European countries.

Trump made these comments Thursday, following an unprecedented meeting at the White House with Russian President Vladimir Putin’s special envoy, Kiril Dmitriev.

Speaking to reporters at the Oval Office, the US president said the conflict between Russia and Ukraine is very close to resolution, but did not elaborate on the content of the talks.

I can’t tell you what we discussed. But I tell you there will be a deal, it will be a great deal. It’s gonna be so big. It will involve more than Ukraine, I can even say it may involve Europe. It will be a great, beautiful deal and everyone will be pleased, Trump said, writes DW.

He said he had not held a meeting with Ukrainian officials, who were also in the White House Thursday.

Meanwhile, Trump’s groom and US envoy, Jared Kouchner, announced that the United States, NATO and European partners had held productive and content discussions concerning the outcome of the war in Ukraine.

Through a post on the social network X, Kouchner said the goal is to address the security concerns of all parties through practical and agreed agreements that would reduce the risk of future conflicts.

He also announced that talks will be held next week in Abu Dhabi, where representatives of Kiev and Moscow will be involved.

Trump has earlier promised several times that he would end the war between Russia and Ukraine, including his famous pledge that he would complete it within a day after his return to the White House. However, a solution to the conflict has not been reached so far.

On the other hand, delegations from Russia and Ukraine were at the White House on Thursday in an event where the role of the first American lady, Melanie Trump, was praised in mediating the last ceasefire in the town of Olesky, Ukraine.

Russian envoy Kiril Dmitriev thanked Melanie for her humanitarian role in securing the six-day ceasefire, adding that Russian President Vladimir Putin had personally provided instructions under this operation.

Ukrainian representatives also praised her commitment. Davyd Arakhamia, the head of the Ukrainian president’s party parliamentary group Volodymyr Zelensky, urged Melanie to continue its commitment to reducing tensions and helping the Ukrainian people.
