Vasoll: Kosovo needs national strategy to take advantage of diaspora potential ( V IDEO)

BEsnik Vasoli, executive director of the German-Kosovo Economic Ode, has criticised the way the diaspora’s role in public discours is handled in Kosovo, praising that its contribution should not be limited to voting and buying real estate.

On show The DPS at Fidanı in Klan Kosova, Vasloi said the diaspora has far greater potential to help the country’s development, but that Kosovo has not done enough to commit it.

He stressed that the country needs a national strategy for the diaspora, accompanied by concrete conditions and projects that would enable its involvement in economic development.

We have to have national strategies, do more and open up more to the diaspora. The diaspora is that bridge because you know both worlds, Vasol said.

According to him, Albanians living abroad recognise both Kosovo and the states they live in, thus having significant opportunities to create bridge co-operation and bring new experiences and investments, Klankosova reported.tv.

Vasol also highlighted the importance of closer co-operation with Albanian associations in the diaspora, especially in Germany, where much of the Kosovo diaspora is concentrated.

He said that through joint projects, the diaspora can operate its network of contacts, knowledge and opportunities, in order to contribute more to Kosovo’s development and empowerment.
