Zelensky: Ukraine receives only 12 Patriot missiles per month from US

Ukraine is receiving an average of 12 rockets a month for Patriot air defence systems from the United States during 2026, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has declared, stressing difficulties in securing the ammunition needed to protect against Russian ballistic missile attacks.

According to Ukrainian news agency Ukrinform, Zelensky said a large portion of the US-generated weapons are funded by European countries, but supply of Patriot missiles remains a particular challenge.

We buy a lot of guns from the United States. Europe paid for them, all arrived, and everything went well. But some things pose a real challenge, especially Patriot missiles. In 2026, we are receiving an average of 12 rockets per month, he declared.

The Ukrainian president said he works every day to secure interceptive missiles and that each week he should seek new aid packages to protect the country from Russian attacks, Telegrafi broadcast.

According to Zelensky, US Defence Secretary Pete Hegseth, it has approved a 12- rocket package, but the adoption of 23 other missiles Ukraine has provided from other sources is still needed.

) The US has a package of 12 rockets and he has signed the approval. That’s great. But only this month we’ve used 35 rockets. Now the question is to get approval for another 23, which I have provided from other sources, Zelensky said.

He also indicated that during a meeting with US President Donald Trump in New York, he had sought approval of a winter package with rockets.

Zelensky said he had presented to Trump the number of missiles Ukraine needed and promised that if the request was approved, Kiev would not hit the oil refinerys.

When Trump asked where the missiles could be secured, the Ukrainian president mentioned the countries they had available.

According to Zelensky, Trump replied that the US would do everything it could to help Ukraine, but stressed that the U.S. military also needed these missiles and that the reserves were limited.

On October 26th, Zelensky had declared that Ukraine has been waiting for Hegseth’s approval of the aircraft systems of Patriot and NASAMS for nearly a month. He said he had instructed his team to discuss the matter with the American side again. /Telegraphy/
