The European Union has called for consultations before restarting discussions on changing the Kosovo Specialised Chambers Law, as changes adopted by the Parliament have returned for review.
In a communiqué, the EU has recalled its concerns regarding this initiative, stressing that consultation with it is envisioned in the spirit of the 2014 exchange of letters between the EU High Representative and the president of Kosovo.
The EU has repeatedly expressed its deep concern over the initiative to amend the Kosovo Specialised Chambers Law, both after its approval from the Kosovo Assembly on October 6, 2026. In the spirit of the 2014 exchange of letters between the EU High Representative and the president of Kosovo, which defines consultation modalities with the EU prior to changing legislation, we expect the European Union to consult if discussions resume in Assembly. Rule of the law and protection of fundamental rights, including those of victims and witnesses, remain of great importance, the EU communiqué said.
