Presevo Valley Albanians vote for their political future

Through a joint electoral list, Albanian representatives aim to strengthen their voice in Serbia’s state institutions and ensure stronger representation of residents of the Presevo Valley.

Coalition representatives have rightly called on citizens to participate as massively in the elections, stressing the importance of voting in determining political representation and addressing the problems facing Albanians of this three.

Calls for voter turnout have also prompted Kosovo state leaders and leaders of political parties, who have encouraged local Albanians to exploit their right to elect representatives in Serbia’s institutions.

Among the main issues seeking solutions remain the equipment of addresses, non-recognition of Kosovo diplomas, and lack of investments in Albanian-run municipalities. These problems continue to be among the main concerns of the Albanian community in the Presevo Valley.

Through elected representatives, Albanians aim to receive these issues more concrete institutional treatment, while requirements for respecting rights, economic development and improving their position are more present in the agenda of Serbia’s institutions.

Since 2007 and until 2020, Albanians from the Presevo Valley have won no more than one seat in Serbia’s Assembly. Therefore, 2020 remains the year that for the first time did all Albanians together on an election list, and the only time three seats were secured in Parliament of Serbia.

Serbia’s early parliamentary elections on October 25th 2026 also brought all Albanian political parties from Presevo, Bujanovac and Medvedja together again.
