Obama hits Trump a few days before elections, charges corruption

Former US President Barack Obama has toughened criticism of President Donald Trump, just days before the US Muslim elections, which will determine the control of the US Congress.

During electoral gatherings in Cleveland and Detroit, Obama accused the republican administration of corruption, criticised its strategy towards Iran, and inaugurated the changes Trump has made at the White House.

Campaigning in Michigan for the Democrat candidate for the Senate, Abdul El-Said, Obama named the November 3rd vote an opportunity to contain what he called President Trump’s reckless actions.

During his speech, Obama accused Trump of using the presidency for personal gain.

We have never seen a president profit this way, directly at the expense of taxpayers, Obama said.

He also criticised the Republicans, claiming the party is tolerate corruption, disability and lack of accountability in government.

Obama also questioned the administration’s claims of victory over Iran.

According to him, the conflict has stepped up Tehran’s economic impact, as threats to attacks on shipping in Hormuz Strait have increased uncertainty in oil markets.

Iran now has veto power over the Strait of Hormuz, through which oil passes to reach world markets, the former president said.

In his speech, Obama also inaugurated US Defence Secretary Pete Hegseth, accusing the administration of focusing on trivial issues instead of the country’s main problems.

He commented ironically also on the luxurious renovations of the White House, comparing them to the styst displayed by former Iraqi dictator Saddam Hussein. /Telegraphy/
