There is reason to say that he is already finished, says the Croatian newspaper Jutarnji list, Zarko Korac, once deputy prime minister in Zoran Djindjic’s government.
From what is happening in Belgrade, the euphoria of victory in the forces against Vuciqi has already prevailed, which, allegedly, shortly after the closure of the deployments, will begin to celebrate on the streets.
The reason for this is high turnout, which warns that Aleksandar Vuciqi — at least apparently — is declining and that even with numerous election manipulations he cannot compensate for this loss, even though he has not left everything to chance. But this time, it’s really hard.
The lines to vote are so long and turnout by noon is about 35 per cent, so it can already be said that Aleksandar Vuciq is finished, says Zarko Korac, retired Belgrade University professor and once deputy prime minister in Zoran Djindjic’s government.
Since the early hours of the morning, the atmosphere has been such that the ranks have begun to develop even before the opening of the deployments. When the situation is such, sociologists say, it always shows high turnout, which means voters demand changes. Turnout is moving towards a figure that even Vucinqi will find difficult to overcome. However, judging by the early hours of the elections, it seems that Vuciqi must think hastily about his future moves, because the impression is that things are not going well. The fact that many of its media, such as Informer, Kurir, Alo, Politika and B92, are writing about numerous irregularities in the polling and threats to which pro Vuciqi voters are exposed, while students and independent media are attacked that they are breaking the electoral silence, shows that a possible tactic is already being prepared for non-recognition of election results, arguing that they are irregular. Informer, like Vuciqi’s most powerful media coup, is already talking about this irregularities, which means they are aware of the direction in which the election process is going.
In his best days, Aleksandar Vucciqi has received about two million votes, which means that this time he needs at least 400 to 500,000 additional votes to declare victory. If turnout reaches 65 to 70 percent or more, as expected on the basis of this trend, it will not be able to compensate for that difference. If the groups in the resort continue and it’s hard to expect them to be reduced, maybe we can talk about the loss of Vucciki right now.
According to some information, it can cause turmoil and disorder to declare the state of emergency and, at least for a time, delay its decline. He will probably insist that the elections have been irregular or will insist on his victory, which students do not recognise, procrastinating the situation and leading it towards the threshold of crisis and chaos.
The question is that to what extent the police, the army and the intelligence community, but even its paramilitary teams, the so-called CHAaciji, are willing to protect him, although to a large extent they are protecting themselves and their positions. However, in view of his authoritarian psychopathic character and the fact that he has created a nepotist, corrupt-clitisticist regime, linked to criminal structures (which he wrote just before the elections, the weekly Radar, one of Serbia’s rare independent media), asks whether, for all these reasons, he can hand over power peacefully and withdraw to the opposition. Because in this lucrative, loyal system of hiss, a large number of people have been involved, while in his hands still carry the reactive camera, institutions and most media, he will likely try to postpone the inevitable and cause chaos and turmoil despite the election results.
However, if Vucinqi and this can be expected of him ʹ announces victory with such high turnout, that is, big election manipulations. This will certainly lead to a large number of dissatisfied people, especially in major urban centres such as Belgrade, Novi Sad and Nis, so people who have not voted for it. In this case, the question is how the reception device, which is completely under Vuchiki’s control, will react. He may even admit defeat, but he will do all he can to make power change difficult, especially if he feels threatened. This means that he will try in every way to prevent the formation of new powers, to give himself the opportunity to think about escaping (in this context the mention of Minsk and Moscow, through Bratislava). This is one of the realistic scenarios because his opponents have long threatened him with imprisonment and trial, while it is difficult to assume that he is willing to be sacrificed to that extent.
