Kurti gives the two ministries a 54-hour report on the murder of Arlinda Zekaj

Prime Minister Albin Kurti has demanded that responsible institutions provide answers to the way the Arlinda Zekaj assassination case is handled. He has announced that the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the Ministry of Justice have yet 54 hours to complete the report, expected to identify possible institutional failures.

Kurti has warned that after reviewing the findings, measures will be taken against potential responsibles, in line with law and regulations in force.

54 hours from now they have the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the Ministry of Justice, and this is the result that at last night’s session when the resolution was voted 67 votes, I said they have 72 hours. There will, of course, be measures in harmony with law and regulations. We’ll do everything we can, we know, but now speed is the main, Kurt said.

He stressed that the report should light up the case to the end but also examine similar cases, seeking to identify responsibilities in any link to the justice system.

Arlinda Zekaj is a witness to the battle for justice in the Republic of Kosovo, Kurti said, adding that there must be investigations into investigators, the indictment when there are legal grounds and judgments by the courts.

The prime minister estimated that reform in the justice system can no longer be postponed, citing the European Union’s continued criticism of Kosovo in this area.

According to him, EU reports over the years have calculated shortcomings in the justice system, which make urgent treatment necessary.

The reform of the justice system is not only important, but urgent, Kurti stressed.

He demanded that responsible institutions act swiftly and provide accountability for any possible failure.

Justice must be directed. That means investigation into investigators and prosecutors and court judges, he said.

At the beginning of his speech, Kurti expressed condolences to the Zekiaj family, saying that the killing of Arlinda has caused great shock in society and has prompted demands for justice.

He stressed that institutions must do everything possible to whiteen the case and prevent similar cases in the future. /Telegraphy/
