Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti has waited in his office for representatives of political subjects, activists and Albanians from Presevo, Medvedja, Bujanovac and the New Pazar, after the 25 October elections in Serbia were achieved.
Through a Facebook post, Kurti has estimated that uniting Albanian political subjects on the Albanian coalition list has brought the best result of Albanians in Serbia since 2000.
He has said this list has received 1,233 more votes compared to the 2020 elections, when Albanians had won three mandates.
Kurti has stressed that Albanians, although they are the fourth largest minority in Serbia, in Sunday’s elections are ranked second in the number of votes and the first in mandates, along with Hungarians, among the national minorities’ lists.
He has made it known that of the six mandates won by four national minority lists, two belong to the Albanian coalition.
The prime minister has said that the importance of this result goes beyond numbers, citing the challenges that, according to him, Albanians in Serbia, including the equipment of addresses, non-recognition of diplomas, exclusion from public institutions, economic discrimination and migration.
For more than two decades, Albanians have been a bit of a double opposition. Opposition to power and opposition to the state, which had placed itself in opposition to them. The union must not end. We need to understand that on October 25, the new quality of union has a new chapter that must continue with strong rights protection, demand for equality, and the effort for dignified life in its homeland, Kurti wrote.
According to him, the two mandates are joint achievement, and above all, are common responsibility.
Where the biggest opportunities are, the responsibility is greater, Kurt added.
