Democratic Party of Kosovo MP ( PDK), Altin Krasniqi, son of former Parliament Speaker and former Kosovo Liberation Army spokeswoman ( U n CK), Jakup Krasniqi, has objected from the Parliament’s speech to the Special Court’s judgment against four former KLA leaders, calling it an unfair injustice to Kosovo.
In his speech, held on the sixth anniversary of the arrest and transfer to The Hague of former KLA leaders, Krasniqi has claimed that the sentences to Jakup Krasniqi, Hashim Thaci, Kadri Veselin and Rexhep Selimi do not concern individual responsibilities witnessed, but with the political positions they had held.
On September 16, 2026, Jakup Krasniqi, Hashim Thaci, Kadri Veselin and Rexhep Selimi were not sentenced for their actions or for their individual responsibilities. They were sentenced for their political posts, the deputy said. PDK.
Krasniqi has also rejected the treatment of the KLA Political Directorate during the trial, claiming that through this act the trial is intended to tarnish the goal of the liberation war.
This has only one reason: they want to distort and re-enact the KLA targets, the goals of this political directorate, which were the same among generations: Kosovo’s freedom and independence, he said.
MP The PDK has also warned that the indictment could serve as a basis for states opposing Kosovo’s independence to carry out diplomatic campaigns against the country, presenting it as the condemnation of the KLA war.
Imagine the diplomatic offensive that will develop the opposing countries of our independence, which are not few. And these countries will not speak of individual sentences, but will talk of punishment and criminalisation of a liberation war, such as that of the KLA, he said.
Referring to the evidence presented during the trial process, Krasniqi has claimed that persons from various categories, including international and family representatives of the victims, had testified to the innocence of the accused.
