The VV’s wave has come, Gashi for the attack on the Parliament and the death of Astri.

The Dehar family lawyer, Tome Gashi, has stated that, according to him, the case of the attack on Kosovo’s Parliament in 2016 and the release of Vetevendosje Movement activists on charges of this attack testifies no one has been identified as its author.

He has claimed the case was deliberately organised at the time when Vetevendosje was growing politically, while he said the entire system had worked to conceal the case of Astrit Dehar’s death.

Speaking on the Debat Plus show, on the 10th anniversary of Astrit Dehar’s death, Gashi has recalled that several Vetevendosje activists, including Astrit Deharin, had been arrested and charged with grenade launching attacks on the Kosovo Parliament building in August 2016.

Rest is finished with the release of all innocents. At first, a ruthless judge sentenced them to 50 years in prison. But other instances have turned it into retrial and all are acquitted. Now it’s going to be that we haven’t identified anyone who has shot the Kosovo Parliament with grenade launchers, Gashi has said.

He has also questioned the circumstances of the attack, claiming it may have been organised and deliberate, at the time when the Vetevendosje Movement was gaining political support.

Someone who’s getting organized to shoot on purpose, because they saw the LVV wave coming, he said.

Gashi has linked this development to the death of Astrit Dehar at the Prizren detention centre, saying that, according to his belief, the growth of Vetevendosje in 2016 had been a reason for his murder.

The 2016 VVal, seeing that LV is actually coming, but the VV is growing, was the reason for the murder of Astrit Dehar. The entire system has been working to conceal the case of Astrit Deharit’s murder, Gashi said.

The attack on the Kosovo Parliament building took place on the evening of August 4th 2016, after the Government had sent the draft bill for ratification of the demarcation agreement with Montenegro to the Parliament.

In this case, several activists of the Vetevendosje Movement, including Astrit Deharin, had been arrested. Frasher Krasniqi, Adea Batusha, Egzon Haliti and Atfi were accused of attacking the Parliament, named by the prosecution organs as a criminal act of terrorism.

In the first trial, the Constitutional Court in Pristina had sentenced the four accused to a total of 21 years and six months in prison: Frasher Krasniqi for eight years, Father and Arifin for six years, Egzon Haliti with five years and six months, and Adea Batusha to two years in prison.

After the defense complaints, the Court of Appeals had annulled the case and turned it into retrial. On December 27, 2022, the Constitutional Court in Pristina had acquitted the four accused, arguing that they had not been proven to have committed the criminal act they were charged with.

Astrit Dehari, who was arrested under investigation for the case, had died on November 5, 2016, while being held at the detention centre in Prizren.
