OpenAI introduced the function “Locked Chats” on ChatGPT, which allows users to protect certain conversations with a code PIN 4 quadfral or biometric authentication on the phone.
The closed conversations will be placed in a separate space and will not appear in the common history, on the fixed chat list or on the search results.
The function aims to limit the approach of others to private content, especially when users share equipment with someone or use it in public environments.
However, the key does not offer encryption from end to end and does not change OpenAI’s legal obligations for data. Also, it does not automatically change the quality of the use of calls on model training or their conservation deadlines.
The company warns that restoring the access code will bring permanent elimination of all locked conversations and busy files in that space. Such content will not be restored by even the service of support.
The feature is gradually being distributed to users of free version and signatures of plans Go, Plus and Pro. In Android and iOS, it will also support talking aloud, while conversations in the Codex will not be able to lock.
