The ombudsman institution faces financial difficulties and problems even with rent payment due to lack of means.
The ombudsman, Faton Peace, hopes that with the future budget revision or government decision, additional means will be provided.
It also requires new employment, as the institution is constantly losing control, while demands directed at the Ministry of Finance have so far been rejected.
Meanwhile, changes in the Law for ombudsman aim to ensure greater financial, functional and organisational independence of the institution.
According to Selam, these changes are the condition for accreditation application with status A, as Northern Macedonia currently has status B.
The proposals provide for, in case of budget disagreement between the institution and the Ministry of Finance, the final decision to make the Parliament.
Also envisioned is the possibility of forming a Human Rights Protection Council, with representatives from the academic community and the civil sector.
