The price of oil in Kosovo could be returned under state control by tomorrow. Industry, Trade, Trade and Innovation Minister Mimoza Kusari-Lila has warned of the return of the ceiling price if the fall of prices on international markets does not reflect on consumers in Kosovo as well.
During an answer to the Kosovo Assembly, following Alliance MP Albana Bytyqi’s question, Kusari-Lila has indicated that in the last two days, the decline in the price of oil has started on world markets. It has warned that, if this decrease is not seen at local prices, the ministry will intervene, again setting a maximum price.
Positive in the last two days is the beginning of the decline and from tomorrow, if there is no decline or reflection in the market in Kosovo, we will return the ceiling price, as we have legal grounds to do so, Kusari-Lila said in the Kosovo Assembly.
The minister has clarified that the decision to set the ceiling price was in effect from March to September 8th of 2026, when his implementation deadline ended. After this decision expired, MINT has continued daily monitoring of derivative prices and determining the margin of profit, in line with market prices.
According to Kusari-Lila, since the ceiling price was removed, the margin of oil earners has not exceeded 12 cents per litre.
She has stressed that the latest increase in Kosovo’s oil price, which has spent 1.90 euros per litre, relates to the price of this derivative on international markets.
