The meeting of the Commission for Economics, Industry, Trade, Trade and Inovation has failed, in which the report of members of the Kosovo Competition Authority was envisioned.
The failure to keep it was the lack of Vetvendosje Movement deputies, who, according to the commission’s chairman, Arben Mustafa, had sought to postpone the meeting through an email sent only 15 minutes before the start.
Mustafa described the move as irresponsible and not serious, stressing that the media had been reported and representatives of institutions who had to report were invited to the meetings.
It is irresponsible to ask for 15 minutes before the meeting begins to be postponed, Mustafa said, adding that the absence of MPs caused the commission to have no quorum.
On the agenda was a principle review of the Energy Efficiency Bill, which was not even addressed in the previous meeting due to the lack of ministry representatives.
Meanwhile, Mustafa disclosed that the commission has accepted several paperwork and testimony from members and employees of the Competition Authority, who have filed claims of irregularities in the functioning of this institution.
According to him, on October 16, 2026, the two members of the Competition Authority Commission, Kaltrina Sela and Nazije Osdautaj, have submitted a letter claiming they were unable to exercise their role and that the head of this authority, Naim Binaku-Isuffi, has committed legal violations.
Concerns, according to Mustafa, have also raised two employees of the institution, Shemsie Lezi and Gresa Latifi, who have reported by signal claims of irregularities.
The chairman of the commission warned that failure to operate the Competition Authority could create room for secret agreements between businesses and abuse of dominant positions, with consequences for the economy and citizens.
Claims of irregularities in the Competition Authority remain to be addressed and verified by relevant organs.
