Zekijaj in Pec, demanding concrete actions for preventing violence against women and full investigation into circumstances preceding the case.

Gervala, who is also national co-ordinator for protection from domestic violence, violence against women and gender-based violence, has said this event has shocked all of Kosovo and has brought to focus the responsibility of institutions for life protection, Klankosova broadcasts.tv.

Arlinda’s murder has deeply shaken Kosovo and somehow confirmed the expression that only one evil man raises his hand and kills or beats a woman, has declared Gervala by the Kosovo Assembly Speaker.

She has expressed comfort to family members and to all who have been affected by this tragic loss, stressing that expressions of comfort are not sufficient without concrete action.

Comfort, however sincere, is not enough. Our responsibility is to act, the more the killer is still on the run, the minister said.

The drill has raised questions about the effectiveness of measures to prevent violence and protect the victims, stressing that cases when a woman loses her life after seeking assistance and protection require full consideration of the preliminary circumstances.

According to her, this does not imply prejudice of anyone’s responsibility, but requires facts, investigations and concrete actions.

Last night’s brutal crime, killing another woman inevitably brings us back to the most fundamental question: Are we doing all we can to prevent violence and protect life? When a woman loses her life after seeking help and protection, we are obliged to examine not only the crime committed but also all the circumstances preceding it.
