Why is it not recommended that you leave your glasses down after washing the dishes?

After the bath, we often put our glasses on a kitchen towel, or drain, so that the opening will be below. Although this drying method seems practical because it allows water to drain, experts warn that glasses should not be left in that position if their lip is fully supported on the surface.

The problem arises because of insufficient air circulation. When the opening of the glass is pressed on a flat surface, the inside drys more slowly and the moisture left can contribute to the development of unpleasant, old aromas.

That is why it is important to pay attention to how we leave them behind. If the glasses are turned upside down, they must be placed on a tower that allows air passage instead of being placed directly on a tea towel or on a smooth surface.

According to the glass washing and maintenance guide, improper storage can also contribute to unpleasant aromas, especially if the glasses are stored while still wet.

How do you dry and store your glasses properly?

After the bath, leave it on a net-based drain so that the air can circulate.

Don’t put the opening down directly on a wet towel.

Wait till they dry up before you put them in the closet.

avoid putting wet glasses inside each other, as this preserves moisture and makes drying difficult.

Keep them in a clean, dry place, away from strong smell sources.

It is important to note that turning the glasses upside down is not necessarily wrong. This position may be entirely appropriate if the glasses are completely dry or dried to an area that allows air flow. The problem lies mainly in maintaining moisture.
