Blenda Aslan from the QICA NGO said Arlinda had sought protection from the state, followed legal procedures, provided protection warrants and warned institutions of the impending danger. In her view, though, she was killed a few minutes later.
What value do these procedures have when a woman can follow it all and yet kill it?
She stressed that the Arlinda case shows the failure of institutions to protect women even when they seek help and warn of danger. Aslan demanded that all of the institutional bonds responsible be investigated and that those whose actions or actions have contributed to this failure be held accountable to justice.
During the action, activists threw red on the steps of the Government building as a symbol of lost lives and state responsibility.
The State killed Arlinda, so the state must account for it, it was QICA’s message.
Aslan suggested that QICA would join the protest called by the Feminist Kolestik for Wednesday, inviting citizens to attend.
She said the organisation will continue to seek state accountability for institutional neglect, which she said is costing women with life.
We will continue to seek accounts from the State for institutional neglect, because women are losing their lives, Aslan declared.
