At the Oncology Clinic at the University Clinical Centre in Kosovo ( QKUK) has started applying advanced SBRT radio therapy technique to treat lung cancer patients.
This treatment is accomplished through linear calculator Electa Versa HD, which enables more precise radiation and more target treatment of tumors.
According to Health Minister Arben Vitita, thanks to investments in modern technology and professional staff establishment, patients are allowed greater protection of healthy tissue and smaller number of treatment sessions, in cases where it is appropriate.
The start of this technical application is estimated as an important step in advancing oncological services in Kosovo’s public health system.
Also, on International Medical Physics Day, gratitude has been expressed to medical physicists, radio therapists and radio therapy technicians for their contribution and professional commitment.
