Albania’s Prime Minister Edi Rama has published a family photo from the Berlin Process Summit, which is being held in St. Stefan of Montenegro, but Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti is not seen in the distributed version, and that of northern Macedonia, Hristian Mickoski.
The picture, published Thursday on October 22, 2026, features the participating leaders in the summit, yet the version distributed by Rama is cut in proportion to full family photography, leaving out the two prime ministers of neighbouring countries.
Whether cutting the photograph has been deliberate or the result of its adaptation to social networks is unknown.
But, unlike Rama, Prime Minister Kurti has published the photo showing all leaders, including Albania’s prime minister.
Dozens of commentators have drawn sharp criticism of Rama, describing it as a bad gesture.
At the Berlin Process Summit, along with German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, leaders of six Western Balkan countries, representatives of the European Union and leaders of other European countries participating in the initiative have gathered.
The summit in St. Stefan focuses on strengthening regional co-operation, economic development and accelerating the European integration of Western Balkan countries.
The summit also marks the conclusion of Montenegro’s chairmanship of the Berlin Process for 2026.
