Deputy Minister of European Affairs Victoria Trajkov said EU membership is the clear strategic definition, which has broad social support.
She added that European integration is the transformation process, which results in concrete reforms, stronger institutions and tangible benefits for citizens and businesses in Macedonia.
As informed by the European Affairs Ministry, Trajkov stressed that our country for more than two decades harmonises the judicial and institutional system with EU rights, in accordance with obligations from the Stabilisation and Association Agreement.
The application process began with transportation of key acts from areas related to the domestic market, while continuing in all other areas. Today we can say that over 45% of European law has already been successfully transformed into our local legal system. The results are also seen outside the laws: powerful political interconnection, including in the field of foreign policy and security, strengthened trade co-operation, Europeanised policies, trained administration and improved infrastructure, Trajkov said, adding that European Commission reports are a map for future priorities.
She pointed out that the fair transfer is of crucial importance for effective implementation of the legislature in accordance with European rules and standards. In parallel with negotiations, as he said, important instruments for speeding up this transformation are the EU’s growth plan for the Western Balkans and the reform agenda.
qualitative harmonisation, as Trajkov estimated, is not only a duty, but also a condition for financial support and benefits that citizens and companies can feel prior to equal membership.
