Justice Minister Donika Grovalla has said that after the assassination of Arlinda Zekiaj, she has not left the constitutional meeting with the conviction that responsible institutions have fully carried out their task of protecting her.
At the extraordinary session of the Kosovo Assembly, Gervala has indicated that immediately after the case he has requested official information from Kosovo Police to clarify the circumstances and actions undertaken by institutions, including the handling of previous reports.
It has shown that at an extraordinary inter-initiation meeting, together with Interior Minister Jhelal Svecla, and Minister for Family and Value of Liberation War, Andy Hoti, have called for relevant institutions to immediately verify facts and circumstances.
And right, we didn’t come out of this meeting with the feeling that the institutions called to protect Arlinda from violence have fulfilled their constitutional duty to law and to their responsibilities, Gervala has declared.
It has stressed that protection of the victims requires long implementation of the law, inter-institutional co-operation and risk assessment on the basis of facts.
But real protection is done only when the provisions are implemented over time, when institutions communicate with each other and when the danger is assessed on the basis of facts, without deliberate or intentional concessions, she has said.
Following the assassination of Arlinda Zekiaj, institutional responsibility has been sought in the Assembly, including resignations and dismissals.
Gervala, in her statement, has not given any direct answers if she considers her resignation necessary, but has sought verification of the actions of responsible institutions.
