Protest in Tirana enters 17th day

The protest of students, professors and youth followed this Tuesday for the 17th consecutive day in Tirana. Initially, protesters gathered in front of the Ministry of Education while then marched on some of the capital’s main axiss.

After gathering before the Ministry of Education, the students headed towards the prime minister, where they repeated their demands and calls for the departure of Prime Minister Edi Rama. The protest is taking place in calm, without incidents or clashes with police forces, unlike the first few days.

Authorities established a safety cord in the area and arranged for traffic management and deviation. During the rally, protesters chanted as resignations and revolution, seeking changes and support for their cause.

As in previous days, students have rejected invitations to dialogue by Prime Minister Edi Rama, insisting that their demands must be met before the launch of any negotiating process even though the head of the government, as before, has today placed invitations for dialogue in front of the prime minister’s building.

Protesters currently stand in front of the Prime Minister’s building, where they are continuing their rally on the 17th day. Young men, students and professors have partially blocked the World Witnesses’ boulevard while repeating their demands and cheering slogans against the government.

The situation before the prime minister appears calm, without incidents or clashes with police forces, which are located on the perimeter of the institution to monitor the prosperity of the protest.
