Barcelona starts trial for a protector, list two big names

Barcelona has begun to consider opportunities for the reinforcement of the defensive department during the January transition deadline, with the aim of transferring a protector centre that can immediately adapt to coach Hansi Flick’s game style, reports transfer expert Matteo Moretto.

Problems with injuries and lack of adequate protection options have highlighted the Catalan team’s weaknesses, especially after two recent losses to Paris Saint-Germainin and Real Madrid.

For this reason, Barcelona’s leaders are aiming to reinforce their defence in the transitional January deadline. One of the names under consideration is the Brazilian defender of Real Betis, Nathan.

The defender has shown a continuation of his appearances with the team from Seville, while his name was on Barcelona’s radar even during last summer’s passing deadline.

Another factor that can facilitate Nathan’s transfer is his desire to secure his Spanish passport. If he gets it, Barcelona will be able to register without exploiting one of the countries reserved for footballers outside the European Union.

Nathan, however, is not the only name on the Catalonan list. According to Moretos, another potential target remains Alessandro Baston of Inter, which Barcelona had tried to transfer even during the passing summer deadline.

Beaston and Inter are pleased with each other, but looking towards the next summer, if a very high offer comes, Inter can examine it and allow its departure, Moreto said.
