In a post on the X platform, Vance said the war was the reason for the republican defeat in Tuesday’s elections, which enabled the Democrats to take control of the Senate and the House of Representatives.
The reason we lost is war, Vance wrote.
If you want to argue that it was worth losing the Senate for the next six years, then do it, he added.
According to Reuters, Vance’s statements could further complicate Trump’s decision-making, which is considering the possibility of restarting major military operations against Iran.
Vance also said his earlier recommendation for ending the war was correct advice.
Meanwhile, he tried to downplay differences with Trump, saying even the president had acknowledged that fighting Iran cost the republics the loss in the election.
Trump said, however, that war was only one of several reasons for the loss.
