The executive director of Sbonkerı, Fitim Gashi, has praised that agreement between the Democratic Party of Kosovo ( The PDK) and Vetevendosje Movement for the election of Justina Shiroka-Pula as president may be one of the reasons for Bedri Hamza’s resignation from the post of PDK chairman.
Commenting on Hamza’s decision on the show FIVE) Gashi said his resignation is reasonable in the current circumstances within the party, citing developments and internal disagreements in the PDK.
According to him, one of the issues that may have influenced this decision is the party’s rejection of co-operation and dialogue with the Vetevendosje Movement, especially regarding the president’s election.
Gashi did not rule out the possibility that resignation has been influenced by other factors, beyond what Hamza made public.
He estimated that, under the circumstances created, the agreement on electing the president has been beneficial for both sides, as for PDK, as well as Vetevendosje Movement.
I completely agree that this could be one of the reasons why there has been opposition within the Democratic Party. As for its eventual co-operation with the Vetevendosje Movement for electing the president, but I think we should be reasonable and in those circumstances, the way the president came to the last moment. I think it was beneficial for both sides, whether for the Vetevendosje Movement or for the Democratic Party, he declared.
Hamza announced he has resigned irrevocable from the post of PDK chairman, less than a year after taking the lead in the party.
He said the decision was well thought out and expressed confidence that domestic party elections would give more room to young people to contribute to the party.
