JD Vance distanced from Trump?

The US vice president, JD Vance, appears to have launched efforts to politically distance himself from President Donald Trump after losing the Republicans in the Muslim elections, with a view to preserving his chances of being party candidate in the 2028 presidential election.

In a response released Wednesday on the X platform, Vance criticised the republican election strategy and their economic messages, arguing the party had lost touch with citizens’ concerns about raising the cost of living.

His most direct statement was why we lost war, referring to the Iran conflict and its impact on rising fuel prices, writes cn.

Vance also presented four steps that, according to him, can bring voters back to the republican side of the war’s conclusion, focus on the cost of living, and inflation, the putting American interests first, and changing relations with Israel.

His reaction is also seen as an attempt to approach the isolationist wing of the MAGA movement, represented by commentator Tucker Carlson, who supported Trump precisely because of promises to end American involvement in foreign wars.

Meanwhile, after the republican loss, it remains unclear whether Vance and other administration officials, including Secretary of State Marco Rubio, will be able to distance themselves from the war in Iran during the 2028 presidential campaign.

Vance’s reaction comes at a time when discussions have begun on the upcoming presidential race, though two years have remained until the 2028 elections. /Telegraphy/
