Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti has accepted a letter of congratulations from UK Prime Minister Andy Burnham for the new government mandate.
Burnham stressed on paper that the United Kingdom and Kosovo enjoy long-standing and close partnerships.
We are proud to have been among the first countries to recognise Kosovo’s independence. We remain steadfast in supporting Kosovo’s continued development as a sovereign, independent and multiethnic state, as well as highly esteeming our continued co-operation in promoting stability and security in Europe, he wrote.
The British prime minister said his position remains steadfast in efforts to promote regional stability and recognises the essential role of international justice, accountability and rule of law in achieving lasting reconciliation.
We strongly encourage Kosovo to fulfil its pledge to respect the full mandate of Kosovo’s Specialised Chambers as an important testimony to its democratic maturity and dedication to independent and impartial justice for all, the letter says.
I am happy to work with you to address some of Europe’s biggest challenges, as well as to enhance our excellent co-operation and partnership with mutual benefits in areas of common interest, from strengthening our economies to combating serious organised crime, the British prime minister concluded.
