Defence Minister Ejup Macedonia has said the defence industry bill is intended to adopt in January 2027, after the relevant institutional procedures are completed in advance.
According to him, the concept of the defence industry is expected to be sent to the Government for approval next week, while in this year it is intended to proceed even in the Assembly in order to create conditions for adoption of the law early next year.
Responding to Alliance MP Burim Ramadani’s questions in the Assembly, regarding deadlines and delays in drafting the legal framework, Macedonia explained that initially it was necessary to draft the concept-document.
The Draft-conceptdocument for the defence industry is being reviewed in line with procedures and deadlines set for drafting strategic documents. As far as the law is concerned, normally, we first had to draft the concept-document for the defence industry. The processing group has drafted the first draft and completed it on August 27th 2026.
After public consultation, necessary comments are included and the final document is completed this week. From next week, we will escort him to Government for approval and then bring him to the Assembly within this year, so that he can clear the way for early next year, in January, the law to the defence industry is passed, he said. / KP/
