On October 20, 2026, assistant secretary general NATO for Political Affairs and Security Policy, Douglas Jones, and Assistant Secretary General for Operations Christian Buck, stayed for a visit to Ukraine.
While in Kiev, they met with senior Ukrainian officials to discuss the situation at the front, urgent needs before the winter, and reforms the country is undertaking.
NATO representatives reaffirmed the Alliance’s steadfast support for Ukraine, including supply of important military equipment, air protection systems and assistance through the General Assistance Package ( CAP).
During the visit, they also held meetings with Ukrainian MPs, civil society organisations and representatives of allied countries.
They also visited a military rehabilitation centre supported by the Renovator project NATO, which helps wounded soldiers recover and veterans reintegration into civilian life.
At their meetings, Jones and Buck stressed Ukraine’s contribution to transatlantic security and welcomed its readiness to share with Allies the experience gained in the battlefield and technological innovations.
According to NATO, co-operation to learn lessons from Russia’s war against Ukraine testifies to deepening relations between the Alliance and Kiev. /Telegraphy/
