Political parties in Kosovo do not expect power change in Serbia to bring great change in this state’s approach to Kosovo. They estimate that, despite new political developments in Serbia, the attitude towards Kosovo could remain unchanged.
Vetevendosje Movement MP Nezir Kraki has told the Online Economy that recent developments in Serbia could mark the end of Slobodan Milosevic’s political era, but not necessarily of his expansionist thinking towards Kosovo.
Political changes that took place in Serbia are good news for the Serbian people, I think, even for a certain change of political course. I said February it was the end of Milosevic actually. It was not the end of Vucici, but the end of the Milosevic era. But that doesn’t mean that Milosevic’s thinking, the expansionist, the conqueror, the alleged, historically forged, on Kosovo, on Albanian soil, no longer has continued to live on the Serbian political scene, he said.
Kraki has said she expects the new political scene in Serbia to approach the European Union differently, but has stressed that Kosovo should not assume responsibility for Serbia’s democratisation or political normalisation.
However, I expect the new political scene there to approach the EU differently, the strategic interests of Serbia that have belonged to the EU and integrations. And, as far as Kosovo is concerned, I don’t think we need to worry a lot about what’s going on there, because it’s not Kosovo’s mission to democratise Serbia or politically normalised. It belongs to them, as I have often said, when we are asked for some diplomatic emissary, so they come in that Kosovo gives something that normalized Serbia. No, no, I’m against this approach. Kosovo does what it gives it, what it does to normalise Serbia, he said.
Kraki has expressed her expectation that the Serbian List will change political approach and accept Kosovo’s independence.
So now, the Serbian list that has been the extension of Vuciqi’s policy here in Kosovo, I expect that the Serb list of differences, the whole approach of politics and access, even to agree all together that Kosovo is independent. Whoever lives in Kosovo, who lives here, is welcome and has the opportunity to live peacefully and peacefully, is even privileged, even positively discriminated against, he said.
Democratic League of Kosovo MP Lutfi Haziri has estimated that expectations for changing Serbia’s approach to Kosovo are low.
According to him, recent political developments and student protests give no reason to expect a change of attitude towards Kosovo.
In the report with Kosovo as well as for Kosovo, expectations are very low in the change of approach, rather, if you consider two years of protests, the entire charge of protesters in relation to governance by Sunday has been one of the main issues Kosovo has been. The platform of the Students’ List for Kosovo is depressing for their approach, for their thinking. Serbia, according to my assessment, remains in the closed district. Now whether the time will change according to the report European aspiring expectations, whatever they can estimate today is something else entirely, but Serbia’s democratisation in relation to Kosovo is with very low expectations, he said.
Early parliamentary elections held on Sunday, October 25, 2026, have brought a historic political turn in Serbia.
According to official data from the Republican Election Commission ( RIK) and monitoring organisations such as CRTA, Student List ‘%s’ has marked a convincing victory, overturning Aleksandar Vuciqi’s 14-year power, while the Albanians of the Valley secured two mandates.
