Kosovo Parliament Speaker Albulen Haxhiu has come to the defense of Justice Minister Donika Grovalla, and Minister of Internal Affairs Jelal Svecla, over the murder case of Arlinda Sylaj Zekiaj in Vitomirica of Peja.
During the Parliament’s extraordinary session, Haxhiu has questioned the responsibility of the two ministers, saying the institutions they run have addressed the legislation and mechanisms they have had at their disposal.

She has stressed that attention should focus on the way institutions value danger, exchange information, and ensure the implementation of protective measures.
According to her, in the case of Arlinda Zekiaj, actions or inactions of each institution involved should be investigated.
For this reason, the way information between institutions is rated, and the implementation of safeguard clauses must be the focus of our attention. In the Arlinda case, we seek to investigate the action or inaction of any institution that has been involved, she has said.
Haxhi’s statement comes on a day when, following the assassination of Arlinda Zekaj, requirements for institutional accountability have been stepped up. During the day, the resignation of Justice Minister Donika Grovall has also been requested.
