The next Console PlayStation 6 may cost more than 1,000 dollars because of the rise in electronic components prices and the enormous memory demand from the artificial intelligence industry.
According to information published by technology industry informant Kepler L2, only the RAM memory and the SSD storage space for a PS6 console can cost Sony about $680.
This figure does not include the processor, the graphic chip, the cooling system and other components needed for the operation of the device. However, the data was not officially confirmed by Sony.
Price hikes are mainly linked to memory expensiveness DRAM and NAND, used in electronic devices as well as high demand from databases that support artificial intelligence.
According to Capler L2 earlier estimates, the overall cost of the PlayStation 6 components could reach about $960. If this figure turns out to be correct, the final price for consumers can exceed the 1,000 – dollar threshold, as production, transportation, marketing, and distribution must be involved.
Meanwhile, PlayStation 5 and Xbox series X/S have undergone price increases since their launch, raising concerns about the cost of the next generation of games equipment.
Sony has not officially announced the price or launch date of PlayStation 6. According to reports thus far, the console may not appear on the market before 2028, but neither has it been confirmed by the company.
